What kind of application is this?

I get the aesthetic of it, but there's a reason why anatomy coloring books exist for college level courses; the process of drawing, along with hand writing notes, builds more sensory input around learning a new thing which increases retention and accuracy. And I haven't seen any research support that writing digitally makes the same connections. Not that it may not exist, but to have not found anything during multiple classes worth of graduate research indicates there isn't much, if any.
